About Mandy

17 years interpreting hearing tests — for people, not for the chart.

I’m an audiologist with 17 years of experience assessing hearing disorders and building treatment plans that genuinely improve how people communicate day to day. My work has spanned hospitals and private practices, with patients from infants to adults in their nineties.

What I specialise in — and what most people need most — is explaining the complicated parts in a way that actually feels clear and reassuring. A lot of people walk out of a hearing test holding a piece of paper they can’t read, and that’s where I come in.

Why not just ask ChatGPT? General tools can explain what an audiogram is in the abstract. They can’t look at yourresults, hear your story, or tell you what a specific dip at 4 kHz means for your life. That’s the part I’m here for.

Children's hearing

Concerned about a child's hearing? I work with parents to understand results and what the right next step looks like.

Already saw someone but still confused? I give you a calm, honest second read on the diagnosis and what you actually need to do.

FAQ

The questions people ask before booking.

What is an audiogram and why is it so confusing?

An audiogram is a chart of the softest sounds you can hear at different pitches. It looks technical because it is — but every line and symbol has a clear meaning. I translate it into what your ears can and can't pick up, and what that means for conversations, music, or work.

Should I send my test results before booking?

Yes — even a photo of the report is enough. I review it before we talk so we don't waste your time on the basics. If you don't have results yet, that's fine too; I can guide you on what test to ask for.

Live consultation or async — which should I choose?

Live (video call) is best when you have a lot of questions or want to discuss options in real time. Async (voice note or written reply) is great if you just need one thing explained or you're in a different time zone. I'll suggest whichever fits your situation.

Can you diagnose hearing loss remotely?

I can't run a hearing test through a screen — that needs equipment and a sound booth. But I can interpret any existing tests, tell you whether a result looks reliable, and point you to the right kind of clinic if you need more testing.

What if it's my child I'm worried about?

Paediatric hearing is a big part of my work. I help parents understand newborn screening results, school screenings, and what next steps make sense at each age.

How quickly will I hear back?

For async questions, I reply within 1–2 working days. Live calls are scheduled to a time that works for both of us — usually within the same week.

A short message is enough. Add a photo of your audiogram if you have one — it helps me prepare.
